Kathryn Bio Image

 Kathryn, Owner

Before Sam's Place, Kathryn was an Ed Tech, an Activity Director, a Secretary and a Soldier. She is married to Michael who grew up in Saco and they have two daughters: Jenna and Trista. Jenna works in the store and Trista is serving in Americorps in the southern region. Kathryn also has a dog, a cat and a fish. For fun, Kathryn likes to spend time with family, read, travel, hike and watch Bollywood films. This would explain why you may hear hindi music in the store.

Kathryn likes to decorate the window at Sam's Place and hear what the homeowners and artists are planning to do with the things they picked out in the store.

Jim Bio Image
    Jim, Framer

Jim is a native of Biddeford and Saco, Maine. A Thornton Academy alumnus, he graduated from the University of Southern Maine, with a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts in 1978.

Jim has been a Maine artist for the past 30 years, with a strong focus on portraiture. The Old Masters have always been a true source of inspiration for him, with a strong passion for the ancient arts. His background in archaeological studies is also evident in some of his works.

Jim's current work includes a combined traditional and abstract style of very original, one-of-a-kind, creative imagery with authentic self-expression.

He works at Sam's Place as a custom picture framer, coming from a background of picture framing and pattern-making in the clothing industry for the past three decades.

Jim lives in Biddeford with his beautiful wife Wendy and three wonderful children: Adam, Kayla and Zachary. His hobbies are collecting antique books and prints, appreciating art, creating art and enjoying life (having fun) with his family and friends.
